UAE Gratuity Calculator 2026
Estimate your end-of-service gratuity from your basic salary and length of service.
How UAE Gratuity Is Calculated
End-of-service gratuity is a lump sum that many private-sector employees receive when their employment ends. The standard calculation uses your basic salary only, not allowances, and works like this:
- Daily wage = monthly basic salary ÷ 30.
- For each of the first five years of service: 21 days of daily wage.
- For each year after five: 30 days of daily wage.
- Part years are counted proportionally.
- Service under one year normally earns no gratuity.
- Unpaid leave days are not counted as service.
- The total is limited to two years of basic salary (24 months).
| Basic salary | Service | Working | Estimate |
|---|---|---|---|
| AED 8,000 | 4 years | (8,000 ÷ 30) × 21 × 4 | AED 22,400 |
| AED 12,000 | 8 years | (400 × 21 × 5) + (400 × 30 × 3) | AED 78,000 |
Things That Can Change Your Result
This tool applies the standard rule only. Your actual entitlement can differ depending on your contract, how employment ended, whether you work in a free zone or government entity, and whether any deductions or unpaid amounts apply. Rules are updated from time to time, so confirm the current position with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation and the UAE Government portal. Our guide to checking employment offers explains which terms to verify before you sign.
